A Calming Corner provides students with a designated place to self-regulate when feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or upset.  This structured break helps students to regain a sense of calm so they can get back to learning. This is a trauma-sensitive initiative that contains simple, quiet activities that students can use to help them learn to identify and manage their feelings.  Teachers who utilize a successful Calm Corner in their classroom will first teach students how to use it, have them practice it, and have the space be used in a highly structured way.  Calm Corners as a Tier-One School Wide Intervention to Decrease Office and Behavior Referrals.
